At techUK's latest SME networking session, we harnessed data from Tussell's market intelligence platform to investigate how much tech and IT local authorities are procuring from SMEs.

Tussell's data revealed these critical insights:

  • The number of tech SMEs used by Local Government has increased significantly since 2016.

  • In 2021, Local Government bodies in all regions spent at least a fifth of their IT procurement with SMEs.

  • G-Cloud frameworks were most used by Local Government bodies when awarding IT call-offs.

  • £147mn worth of live IT contracts held by SMEs are rolling off in the next two years.
