What are the latest trends in public sector framework usage?
Tussell's analysis shows that framework usage is increasing quickly, even in traditionally low-usage sectors like construction, but that adoption varies widely across different industries, business sizes, and government verticals.
In FY24/25, over half of the 2,871 contracts won by the UK Government’s 39 ‘Strategic Suppliers’ were awarded via a framework agreement or DPS - more than twice the market average and nearly three times the SME average.
English Devolution and the Procurement Act 2023 are also profoundly changing the framework landscape, with new frameworks rising to prominance and Preliminary Market Engagements playing a greater role in setting framework criteria.

FAQ
Why are procurement frameworks so important in public sector sales?
Procurement frameworks are important in public sector sales because they are one of the primary routes through which govenment organisations buy goods and services. Being on the right frameworks often determines whether suppliers can access opportunities at all.
Which public sector frameworks should I join?
The right frameworks for your business will depend on your target accounts, sector, and business size. Not all frameworks are used equally in practice. Suppliers are most successful when they focus on frameworks and DPSs that are actively being used by their target buyers.
How do I get on the right procurement frameworks?
Getting on the right procurement frameworks starts with understanding which frameworks and DPSs will actually unlock opportunities in your market. Data-led analysis can help identify where buyers are spending and which frameworks are most active.
Once priority frameworks have been identified, suppliers should monitor upcoming framework opportunities and pre-tender notices for openings to join and shape the frameworks that matter most.
