Tussell, techUK and The Data City are thrilled to share the 5th Annual Tech200 Awards: our list of the 200 fastest-growing tech suppliers to the UK public sector.

This article explains what the Tech200 Awards are, how we calculate the list, and what the composition of this year's cohort tells us about the UK public sector tech market today.

Skip ahead to read about:

🏆  What is the Tech200?

The Tech200 is an annual list published by Tussell, techUK (the UK's technology trade association) and brand-new partners, The Data City, the market's leading providers of industrial & sector intelligence.

The list features the 200 fastest-growing technology suppliers to the UK public sector. This is based on their direct public sector revenue growth between the last two full fiscal periods (FY23/24 - FY24/25).

The list is intended to be a purely fact-based, unbiased analysis of the fastest-growing tech suppliers, completely uninfluenced by any sponsors or the interests of individual companies or organisations.

📊 How does the Tech200 work?

The Tech200 is calculated using openly available procurement invoice data - aggregated and enhanced by Tussell's market intelligence platform, and supplemented by The Data City's Real-Time Industrial Classifications (RTICs) and Real-Time SIC Codes (RSICs) industry classification system.

The list is determined by calculating which 200 tech companies saw the highest growth in direct public sector revenue across the last two full fiscal periods (FY23/24 - FY24/25)

To be included, a company must have received at least £250,000 in direct public sector revenue in the first full fiscal period (FY23/24)

Each company is manually verified to ensure their relevance before inclusion on the list. Each member's headquarters location and best-fit sub-sector classification are determined through thorough desktop research.

💡  The key takeaways from this year's list

The Tech200 provides a unique perspective on the state of play in the public sector tech market.

Its demographics can tell us something about where the public sector's priorities may lie, and the market's overall health and vitality.

Here are our key takeaways:

📈  The key stats:

Between FY23/24 - FY24/25, the average Tech200 members' direct public sector revenue grow by an impressive:

180%

That equated to an average direct public sector growth of:

£3.8 million

Taken together, the Tech200 collectively grew their direct public sector revenue by:

£756 million

This year, the Tech200 featured:

9 Tussell customers and 31 techUK members!

🌱  Over half of the Tech200 are SMEs

112 (or 56%) of this year's Tech200 are Small & Medium-sized Businesses.

6 of the top 10 fastest-growing entrants are SMEs, including this year's #1 ranked supplier: SRC UK.

SRC UK is the UK wing of SRC, a US-based defence & engineering firm. Specialising in data solutions and analytics, SRC UK saw their direct government revenue surge by over 1,600%, following a spike in business with the Ministry of Defence.

The highest-growing non-SME, UK-based Roc Technologies, came in second place. Roc Technologies specialises in digital transformation, and grew by over 1,100% following a surge in spending from numerous universities.

The strong showing of SMEs in this year's Tech200 is a testament to small businesses' ability to respond to the public sector's technology needs.

“SRC UK are delighted to announce that we have placed first in the 2026 Tussell Tech200 Awards. We pride ourselves as being first and foremost a customer-focused company, providing bespoke, assured, open architecture software that delivers affordable sovereign capabilities.”

Steve Davies
Managing Director, SRC UK (1st place)

🖥️  'IT Services' is the largest sub-sector

We classified just under a quarter (41) of this year's Tech200 members as specialising in 'IT Services'.

This was followed by 32 'Digital transformation' providers, and 28 'Software & Systems' providers.

The narrative is clear: the public sector is continuing to invest tens of millions of pounds each year in core IT and tech services. The imperative for government to be digitally-enabled, interconnected and modernised compounds every year. The Tech200 are meeting this demand.

Despite the growth of AI contracts in recent times, out-and-out AI companies still only make up a small showing on the list (totalling 7) - reflecting our AI Procurement Tracker's findings that most AI services are currently delivered by major IT/tech providers, rather than small specialist firms.

r2p Tech200 Headshot

“Achieving 13th position in the Tech200 is a proud moment for r2p UK. Our growth has been driven by helping local authorities modernise passenger information through innovative real-time information, advanced display technologies and cutting‑edge traffic light priority solutions that improve the reliability and experience of public transport for everyone.”

Jay Saw
UK Managing Director, r2p UK (13th place)

🌍   30% of Tech200 are based overseas

139 (~70%) of the Tech200 are headquartered in the UK. The remainder are spread across the globe.

US-headquartered companies make up the largest non-UK cohort, at 26, followed by Australia, at 8, and India, at 5. The remainder originate from a longlist of other, predominantly European, countries.

As the government seeks to increase procurement from UK-based firms, the fact that most of the Tech200 are already UK-founded provides a strong starting point.

Nortal Tech200 Headshot (1)

Nortal has built its reputation in demanding environments, forging its expertise in digitising Estonia, and we’re excited to be applying that same discipline as we scale in the UK.”

❓  FAQs

What is Tussell's Tech200 list?

The Tech200 is an annual list published by Tussell, techUK (the UK's technology trade association) and brand-new partners, The Data City, the market's leading providers of industrial & sector intelligence.

The list features the 200 fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector.

How does a company make it onto the Tech200 list?

We identified the fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector using Tussell's market intelligence platform - supplemented by The Data City's RTICs & RSICs classification system.

We calculated which 200 firms saw the highest percentage growth in direct public sector revenue between the last two full fiscal periods: FY23/24 - FY24/25.

Only companies with at least £250,000 of direct public sector spending in FY23/24 were included.

Is the Tech200 Awards a sponsored / paid-for list?

No, the Tech200 is wholly independent of sponsors. A company's placement on the list is based solely on their objective growth in direct UK public-sector revenue, sourced from publicly available procurement data.

How do you define 'tech' companies in the Tech200?

DataCity's RTICs and RSICs were used in combination with Tussell's proprietary IT filter to capture high-growth technology firms. Each company's relevance is manually verified before inclusion in the list.

Our analysis is conducted at a ‘parent level’, meaning that we have endeavoured to group together all legal entities and ultimately owned subsidiaries of larger firms.

How was each Tech200 members' location and sub-sector determined?

Each firm’s HQ location was identified through desktop research, using sources including Companies House, company websites, LinkedIn and other third-party platforms.

Sub-sector classifications were determined through the same manual review process. These categories represent a best-fit assessment and do not necessarily capture the full scope of each company’s public sector offering.
