What is the Tech200?

The Tech200 is an annual list of the 200 fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector.

 

It is published jointly by Tussell, techUK - the UK's tech trade association - and The Data City, the market's leading provider of sector & industrial data. 

How is the Tech200 list calculated?

We identified the fastest-growing technology suppliers in the UK public sector using Tussell's market intelligence platform - supplemented by The Data City's RTICs & RSICs classification system.

 

We calculated which 200 firms saw the highest percentage growth in direct public sector revenue between the last two full fiscal periods: FY23/24 - FY24/25.

 

Only companies with at least £250,000 of direct public sector spending in FY23/24 were included.

Is the Tech200 a sponsored list?

No, the Tech200 is wholly independent of sponsors. A company's placement on the list is based solely on their objective growth in direct UK public-sector revenue, sourced from publicly available procurement data.

How do you define a 'tech supplier'?

DataCity's RTICs and RSICs were used in combination with Tussell's proprietary IT filter to capture high-growth technology firms. Each company's relevance is manually verified before inclusion in the list.

 

Our analysis is conducted at a ‘parent level’, meaning that we have endeavoured to group together all legal entities and ultimately owned subsidiaries of larger firms.

How were HQ locations & sub-sectors determined?

Each firm’s HQ location was identified through desktop research, using sources including Companies House, company websites, LinkedIn and other third-party platforms.

Sub-sector classifications were determined through the same manual review process. These categories represent a best-fit assessment and do not necessarily capture the full scope of each company’s public sector offering.
